Wat Arun Ratchawararam Or popularly known in the spoken language as Wat Chaeng , or shortly known as Wat Arun , is an ancient temple built in the Ayutthaya period . It was named Wat Chaeng because King Tak finished the battle and returned his army in the morning. It is said that it was originally called Wat Makok and later became Wat Makok Nok. because another temple was built in the same district but in the Bangkok Yai Canal The villagers called the newly built temple Wat Makok Nai ( Wat Nuan Noradit ) and then called Wat Makok at the mouth of the Bangkok Yai Canal as Wat Makok Nok. His Highness established the capital at Krung Thon Buri .In 1767, he arrived in front of this temple at dawn. therefore gave the new name Wat Chaeng But this belief is incorrect. because of the long song Mom Phimsen Ayutthaya period literature describing the journey from Ayutthaya to Phetchaburi has specified the name of this temple as the name of the temple since that time
